Oh Yes! Net Zero was established in 2022 by Hull City Council, the University of Hull, Reckitt and Future Humber to help the region – responsible for a third of the UK’s CO2 emissions – achieve net zero by 2050.
To date, over 180 organisations have joined the campaign and embraced the challenge of decarbonising their companies, schools and communities, learning from each other and similar initiatives around the world.
I worked alongside the OYNZ project manager to develop the Year Two progress report. My contribution included writing the introduction and impact sections, interviewing academic experts, businesses, schools and local authority teams to create a dynamic and revealing picture of the effectiveness of regional collaboration in achieving environmental and community goals.
In addition, I created eight case studies, highlighting the innovative approaches of local organisations to reduce their own carbon output and that of their supply chains. I arranged and carried out the interviews, wrote and edited the copy, handled feedback and submitted fully-approved copy for inclusion in the report.
